Explore Ella
The beautiful area of Ella, located in the hill country of Sri Lanka, provides a base from which to try out a wide variety of hiking and trekking tours through jungle, across tea estates and up mountains. The river and numerous waterfalls in Sri Lanka are another key attraction that allows hikers and trekkers to enjoy a refreshing new experience in Trekking and Hiking with a touch of simple Sri Lankan village life.
What we’ll do
Day 01 – Arrive and Get Ready
Arrival at Home stay in Ella depending on your flight time. Enjoy a refreshing Sri Lankan Lunch and thereafter relax. Later in the evening after a cup of tea experience the preparation of a Sri Lankan rice and curry menu where you will be part of a Sri Lankan cooking. Learn a trick or two about our cooking where the meal prepared will be served as your dinner.
Day 02 – Up on Ella
Ella Rock is a famous cliff. Located high above Ella's village, from the centre of town. The rock offers stunning views across the hill country, and the plains below. The trek to Ella Rock is about 8 km long and is quite easy if you follow the track. Day starts early in the morning. This is approximately 4 hours of trekking trip. A picnic lunch and refreshments will be provided. Up on Ella rock, enjoy the view and res for sometimes. After lunch we return back to homestay and rest.
Day 03 – Ravana Cave
History says that the cave is used by King Rawana to hide the Princess Sita. Located about 2 km from the Ella town. The cave lies on the foundation of a cliff. We start off with visiting Maha Ravana Viharaya (Temple). After the viharaya (Temple) the path leads to the cave. This experience will bring you to love physical challenges and improving your fitness. The entire travel will take around 6 hours.

What to bring
Pack the basics: As with any hike, don’t neglect the basics. Take plenty of water, snacks, sunscreen and insect repellent.

What to Wear
The Climate in Sri Lanka is tropical and consists of very distinctive dry and wet seasons. The average temperature of Sri Lanka usually ranges from 28 – 32 degrees Celsius. So that while visiting wetland parks we recommend warm clothes. For women, loose cotton skirts or trousers and tops or a long dress. For men cotton trousers or shorts and a T-shirt. Wear sensible shoes: The hike to Ella Rock is steep towards the end and can be slippery after rain, so wear appropriate shoes.
